Want to try something extraordinary? If you want an experience like none other, you have to check out the new recreation of zorbing. In what looks like a giant hamster ball for people called a “zorb”, a rider gets inside to then be rolled down a hill for a thrilling, world spinning time. This activity also may be called globe riding or sphereing.
What is the zorb made out of? It is made out of a flexible and transparent plastic. There are two layers of plastic, and in between the outer and the inner layer of plastic is air, which acts as a shock absorber and makes the ride smoother for the people rolling downhill inside of it. Zorbing usually takes place on a gentle slope, although it also can be done on flat land.
Who can do this? People of many ages can try this out. You slide into the giant inflatable ball, get strapped in and then away you go. Since the ball is inflated it isn’t a bumpy ride. If you are doing this when it is hot out, you may opt to have water put into the ball for a completely different riding experience. When you place water in you aren’t harnessed in. You freely tumble and slide inside of the zorb as you roll down the hill in a puddle of water.
How many people can ride inside of one of these at a time? Up to three riders can ride inside of a zorb. If there are three riders they have to ride without using harnesses. You can choose to ride with harnesses or without harnesses if there are two or less riders.
Where can you go to try this awesome activity out? You can only zorb at official zorbing locations. Since the company that makes these giant inflatable balls has strict rules for the locations they sell them too, you can only do it at official locations. So far, there is only one location in the US, and that is at Zorb Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. There is also a location in Rotorua, New Zealand.
For an experience like none other, try zorbing. It may be hard to find a location that offers it, but if you happen to ever be near one, many have raved about it as an unforgettable experience.
